Ok, so I’ve done so many boy-masculine-themed birthday cakes lately that it was really fun to get the call from Chloe’s mom asking for a pink ballet pointe shoes cake for Chloe’s 13th birthday.
I’ve made fondant shoes before, but never ballet slippers, so this was a new one for me. I actually found a really terrific and detailed tutorial on Etsy that made them incredibly easy and surprisingly realistic-looking. The only change I made was putting the support sticks through the bottom of pointe of the shoe rather than glued to the sole so the cake could be displayed from all sides. I even wrote the birthday girl’s name on the insole, kind of like the Danskin logo on really ballet slippers..
The cake was a chocolate and pink velvet alternating layers with vanila buttercream between the layers and covered with pink rosettes. Wish I had a picture of it cut…
I loved doing the cake and the slippers were so feminine and delicate.
Happy Birthday, Chloe! Hope you loved your cake as much as I loved making it for you!
Not only was this cake beautiful it was also delicious! Thank you for making Chloe’s 13th birthday extra special!
